WhatsApp auto reply message samples for a business in Nepal
The free WhatsApp Business app can send a greeting message when a customer first writes, an away message when you are closed, and quick replies for questions you answer every day. This guide gives you samples to copy in English and Romanised Nepali, shows what each one should say, and explains where a free auto reply stops being enough.

What the free app gives you
WhatsApp describes three message tools in its free Business app. Greeting messages welcome a customer and give a prompt first answer. Away messages reply for you when you are not working. Quick replies are pre-written answers to the questions customers ask most.
The first two send by themselves. A quick reply is different: you still choose to send it, in the chat, when the question arrives. That matters for the samples below, because a quick reply can be long and detailed, while a greeting or away message should be short.
Greeting message samples
A greeting has one job: tell the customer they reached the right place and what to send next. Do not put your whole price list in it.
Shop selling products
Namaste! Thank you for messaging Himal Handicraft. Please send the product name or a photo, and your town, and we will reply with the price and delivery charge. Namaste! Himal Handicraft ma message garnu bhayeko ma dhanyabad. Product ko naam wa photo ra tapai ko sahar pathaunuhos, hami price ra delivery charge bhanchhau.
Salon, spa or clinic
Namaste! Thank you for contacting Lotus Spa. To book, please send the service, your preferred day and time, and your name. We will confirm your slot here. Booking ko lagi service, din, samaya ra tapai ko naam pathaunuhos.
Away message samples
An away message is for the hours you are closed. Say when you will reply, and give a way to get help sooner if one exists. Never promise a time you cannot keep.
Closed for the night
Namaste! We are closed now and will reply tomorrow from 10 am. Please leave your question and your town. Hami ahile band chhau, bholi bihana 10 baje pachhi reply garchhau.
Festival or holiday closure
Namaste! The shop is closed for Dashain and will reopen on the date below. Orders sent now will be answered when we are back. Dashain ko karan le pasal band chhau, khulepachhi reply garchhau.
Quick reply samples for daily questions
Save one quick reply for each question you answer more than a few times a week. Keep your real numbers in them, and update them when prices change, because an old price in a saved reply is how a shop ends up honouring the wrong number.
Price and delivery
Thank you for asking. The price of this item is NPR [price]. Delivery to [town] is NPR [charge] and takes [days] days. Would you like to order?
How to pay
You can pay by eSewa, Khalti or bank QR, or choose cash on delivery. Please send a screenshot after paying, and we will confirm once our team has checked it.
Order received
Your order for [item] is received. Please confirm your name, phone number and delivery address, and we will send it after we hear from you.
Mistakes that make auto replies hurt
- Sending a long message to everyone. A customer who sees a wall of text on the first reply often stops reading.
- Promising a reply time that you miss. If the away message says morning, answer in the morning.
- Putting a price in a message you rarely update.
- Saying a payment is confirmed before a person has checked it.
- Replying in English only. Many customers write in Nepali or Romanised Nepali, so a short two-language message feels like a real shop.
When a free auto reply is not enough
Greeting and away messages are fixed text. They cannot read "Pokhara ma delivery kati?" and answer with the Pokhara charge, check a stock list, or record an order. If you answer the same questions all day, or lose sales at night, the next step is an assistant that answers from your own price list and passes the chat to you when a person is needed.
A business that wants messages sent automatically at scale, such as order confirmations, moves to WhatsApp's business platform, which has its own rules and costs. Our guide on the WhatsApp Business API in Nepal explains when that makes sense. For a small shop, start with the free app, write good samples, and move up only when the volume proves you need to.
What we built
For Divyanta, a herbal incense brand in Kathmandu, we built an assistant on Messenger and Instagram that answers in Nepali and English, quotes delivery by town and passes the chat to the owner's team. It is built and tested with the client's team. The same approach applies to WhatsApp, and we can set it up for your shop.

Is the WhatsApp Business app free?
Yes. WhatsApp says the Business app is free to download, and it includes greeting messages, away messages and quick replies.
Can I write my auto reply in Nepali?
Yes. Write it in Nepali, in Romanised Nepali or in both. Many shops use a short English line followed by the same line in Romanised Nepali.
Does a quick reply send by itself?
No. A quick reply is a saved answer that you insert and send during a chat. Greeting and away messages are the ones that send automatically.
Can an auto reply take an order?
A fixed message can only ask the customer to send the details. To record an order and answer different questions, you need an assistant set up for your shop.
